Better Streets Initiative
The PGRA recently met with our ward councillors, councillor Peray Ahmet from Haringey Council and Haringey Traffic Officers to discuss the ongoing traffic problems in Crescent Road.
We relayed our concern that Crescent Road is continuously used as a 'cut through' and the narrowness of the road engenders a 'stand off' situation where neither vehicle can pass. This creates an unsavoury situation with irate drivers shout obscenities at each other and drive on the pavement in order to get through.
Haringey Council claimed that the volume of traffic in Crescent Road is not deemed 'excessive' and no immediate solutions to the problem were offered, other than extending the existing CPZ. We do not believe this will solve the problem as the pinch points often occur outside 'commuter' hours.
However, Haringey Council agreed (in principle) to trial alternative schemes if they meet agreed criteria.
We have asked for a follow up meeting at the end of January where potential initiatives can be put forward and critiqued.
Summer Fete 2017
Many thanks to everyone who came along and made the 2017 Summer Fete such a success last weekend
The sun shone and a thoroughly good time was had by all
Thanks to all those who helped out with the planning and preparation and the many who gave up their time on the day to be on the stalls, entertain us or simply to lend a hand
We raised just over £600 which will all be spend in the local area and across our community
There is a short video of the day below and some photo's in the 'Gallery' section
Rockery Day a Roaring Success
What a day we had. Many thanks to everyone who turned out and helped transform the last patch of weeds at the Crescent Rise flower beds into a rockery fit for the future.
A big thank you to 'Alfie Bines Gardens' who helped us dig to victory and directed us all on the day. Cheers.
Great day. Great fun. Great community effort. Well done everybody. The photos say it all.
Many thanks to everyone who made the summer fete on Sunday (26th) such a success
A big thank-you to everyone who baked cakes, nurtured plants, entertained us, gave donations and played a part in putting on a lovely event once again
But the biggest thanks go to neighbours and friends who came out and supported the event and helped to raise over £750 for the PGRA funds. This money will go towards ongoing initiatives that improve the look and feel of our area and ensure it continues to be a pleasant place to live and work
The video below is a snapshot of the day. Some photographs can also be viewed in the gallery section.
Thanks again to all
On the gardening front we have also been awarded a grant of £420 from the Haringey Open Spaces Small Grants scheme. This money will be put towards gardening tools, compost and plants over the next year
